Hmmmm, so its been a year since I visited Davao for the first time and I’m just wrapping up my 2nd visit to this beautiful part of the world.. and I promised my good friend Oli that I would write something elegant, flowing and beautiful about my time here, so.. what to make of it all?
I live in possibly the most anti-social city this world has to offer, so the first thing that struck me when arriving from Manila was how friendly the Dabawenyos came across. It was probably just the wrong place at the wrong time but I never got a good vibe from Makati where my cousin and I stayed last year. In fact I’m convinced that this is the case because since then I’ve been back and thoroughly enjoyed my time in Manila. I’m also a firm believer that the company you keep and the friends that you make have a HUGE influence on how much you derive from a place. The beauty of any given place is redundant without people to enjoy it with. The reason my cousin and I wound up in davao was nothing more significant than me having a friend living here. Through her we met; a dive instructor, the owner of a popular davao beach resort, 2 local entertainers (through which we made our own social circle, including the creator of this very blog).
