Bankerohan Bridge photos
Recently, I invited my good friends Christian Te and Chattee Lara to a photo shoot of the newly-constructed Governor Generoso Bridge I (more popularly known as Bankerohan Bridge). The two were game for it, and we braved the traffic on the bridge last night.
Both are avid photobugs, and are members of the Fanatic Photographers Society, a very progressive camera club here in Davao. Naturally, they brought with them their Nikon DSLRs (a D80 for Christian and a D40 for Chattee) and an assortment of lenses and accessories. I brought my own point-and-shoot digicam… but it was only for composing shots.
We were on, around and above the bridge for about an hour, from before 8pm to almost 9pm. Too bad none of us had the guts to go under the bridge!
Speaking of guts, Chattee answered my dare to stand in the middle of the road to take pictures of the bridge head-on. I stood behind her, directing oncoming traffic, while Christian took photos of us making a scene.
One car, whose driver didn’t see us because he was behind an SUV, had to swerve to avoid hitting us after he overtook the SUV. Boy… talk about exciting (and stupid) stunts! Good thing I had my Press ID with me, just in case.
I’m thinking of more photo shoots of Davao City’s sights. Watch out for more right here!
So, here are some of the photos that the two intrepid photographers took for me. Thanks very much, guys!!!

Maganda sana ang bridge.. kaya lang may GMA CARES.
wahahhaha

@Chikai — ano ibig sabihin ng “tfs”?
@MiGs — Hahaha!! Actually may OK sana na shot eh: Christian was telling me, he saw a street kid sleeping just under that sign on the bridge sometime back… too bad he didn’t have a camera with him that time!

LOL @ Migs. Tama gyud. Anyway, shush ko ana. That’s what I first noticed too.
Reports say it’s 90 days ahead of schedule. Concerned agencies can adopt that mindset to every infrastructure dev’t project here in Mindanao so that we’re not considered lagging.

I think it’s unethical to put your name on a tax-funded bridge, hehe. Grabe, Davao had to wait for Nograles to be house speaker before that got noticed.

You forgot about the bats!!
June 24th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
@Kim — Hear hear!
@drew — Oh yeah, the resident bats under the bridge… You think they’re back already?

We really need to get a shot of the shanty with the smartbro antenna. LOL
Had a nice time with you Blogs. Can’t wait for the full moon shoot! ^__^

June 25th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
@sweet — Well, I don’t think many of us would be so brave without the company of others.

That is so cool. I’m going to stick around to see what other crazy stuff your up to.

I found out thru jeepney drivers that the bridge was open kasi I notice parang kunti nalang duma daan sa Boulevard when I rode a jeep, so three days after I make sure am going to see that bridge…
what really made me loose my temper was the “GMA Cares” in every side of the bridge wall, from left to right! with all the banner pa ng mukha niya ha!!
As I heard that bridge was supposed to be open December 2007 or January 2008 waaa Late na nga mashado eh! may pa CAREs effect pa!
duh!

haha. gma cares. and i guess in case anyone missed that, there’s also the streamer way up high, *and* “gloria” in all caps on a big board by the side of the road. i’m surprised the pavement was left bare.
i love it.
