"You on the other hand USE YOUR BELIEF IN GOD as an encompassing TRUTH to cover up for all the other things YOU DONT KNOW. That is what you don’t get.

The belief in god is also arrogance in the sense that in the end, there still has to be a human-like construct and being to have been responsible for everything else that has happened and existed."

This statements themselves is a symptom of ARROGANCE. You see, you're not different from the religiously fanatics who rum their beliefs into others' thoats. You think that you're above those who prefer to believe in God. You're giving the other and humble atheists a bad name. You go to the point of shoving your atheists belief to the throats of the people who do not have the same faith as you have. I'm tempted to think that you are a 'trying hard' existentialist.

You see, God can neither be proven nor disproven. Because all these millenia, no one has ever done it despite the attempts of proving or disproving him/her. Interestingly, in one The Explainers episode, Manolo's guests said that in Science one continues to be considered a fact unless it has been disproven.

Now, with the theists not able to successfully prove to the public that God exists and neither do the atheists were able to successfully disprove to the public that God exist, what's with the PWNING? This could have been an enlightening discussion but sad to say, Benj went below the belt as he did when he attacked those who were not offended during the Desperate Housewives uproar.

With due respect, Benj but I think you are falling into the double standard line.

@benj -- I have not thought for a second that you didn't respect my intellect, otherwise we wouldn't be having this exchange.

So you're arguing that what cams said here is even remotely "intelligent" and "logical". You referred to her as "comic relief" the last time I checked. Don't you think I'm respecting you as an intellectual equal?

It's all spin, Blogie. And the spin is, I don't make sense even if my post simply blew over the head of most people.

@BongSeg -- Hmmm... maybe when one becomes senile. I'm not saying that young people can't have a depth of perception like that of older people -- and not all older people have it either. My point is: experience builds it, and experience usually comes when one matures.

This is getting off topic already... Maybe I should write about getting old next time! <img src="http://www.angdabawenyo.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" class="wp-smiley" alt="big grin"/>

One practice that I have found to be essential in living a harmonious life is the avoidance of generalizations. When one generalizes, you see, one is being narrow-minded.

Well, you're still quite young, Benj, so you may have a rather limited exposure. Look around some more, get to meet more people and openly listen to their views. I'm not saying that you will have an epiphany and start believing in God -- but you will certainly have a better appreciation of how intelligent other people are, regardless of their religious beliefs (or lack thereof).

The concepts that Ericzoo raised fall within the realm of common sense for anyone who could think outside the box. Amazingly, most theists can't even wrap their heads around those concepts. Though atheists and agnostics may be more aggressive and sometimes rude, they are still better in seeing it both ways. They (in general) are still more dynamic in pointing out the flaws and shortcomings of both sides.

Ooooh! a belief system brawl! Let a tardy fool throw his hat into the ring. :)

Well, I have come to the conclusion that we as a human race knows shit. And to believe otherwise would be foolish. I believe in the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. To subscribe in any belief system whether its Christianism or Scienfuckingtology is part arrogance and part defeatism. After all, faith is the path of least resistance.

If i have to categorize myself (and i hate to be categorized) it would be agnostic. I am unconvinced that we already figured it out. Here are the questions and observations I ask subservients that seem to disarm them. That is until they pull the "faith" and "God works in mysterious ways"card.

1. the greek mythologies was once believed as the truth, they originated to pin explanations to natural phenomena. Now that the lightning, storm, sea, etc have been explained. Is it possible that the remaining religious concepts exist because we have yet to have an explanation to some things such as emotion that we tagged as spiritual, or the lack of after death experience?

2. If God created us who created him?

3. I find hard to believe that a God spends his time watching pathetic creatures like us. And we are the lynchpin of his happiness? Isnt that arrrogance with a triple "R"?

4. Did God and dinosaurs have a grudge? because he just didn't annihilated them he didn't mention them in his book.

5. We are in the image of God? or is God the image of us?

6. If a child is born in Somalia and is miles away from any religion. Will he/she go straight to hell?

7. the more you see the world (darfur, depressed area, the demented people, the corruption, the famine) the harder it is to believe.

8. No amount of prayer will stop this itch on my foot. a dab of benadryl does.

9. Its really is harder to realize that we don't know our purpose here. Our minds clutch at the nearest available belief system to fill that gap.

10. If i was God, I would want each one of you people to stop dallying around and transcend already. It gets fucking lonely up here.
