Disgusting customer service at Bo’s on F. Torres

For long enough, I have avoided writing about my experiences with the customer service of Bo’s Coffee Club — the one on F. Torres St. You see, I usually shy away from writing negatively about something that has the potential to change. But when I see it all the time

Today I was at Bo’s — not by choice, though — to get my caffeine fix via my favorite brew, Americano. Café Americano is a blend of espresso and hot water, which is steamed into the dark coffee. If it’s the other way around — coffee poured into hot water — that is known as Australia’s Long Black Coffee.

What the barista was trying to do was more akin to Long Black, the taste of which is different. So I attempted to teach her how to do it. But she insisted she was right, because that’s how they did it there, she said. Regardless, it was the way she said it, complete with a sideways smirk, that irked me. She tried to do what I was trying to explain to her, but she just couldn’t get it: she steamed water into the cup first and then tried to pour the espresso into it. Then in her inexplicable logic, she put tap water in the cup too! What the…

At Bo’s in SM City Davao, and recently at Bo’s on Katipunan Ave. in Quezon City, I can say that their Americano is excellent. And they prepare it the way I know how.

It’s just disgusting how many establishments here in Davao neglect to train their staff, not only in the proper and consistent preparation of their offerings, but more importantly in customer service.

I’m a frequent customer of Bo’s Katipunan. They have the best baristas. Very polite and friendly. It’s disappointing to hear about this. I would do the same thing to her if I were in your shoes.

@Winston — No choice eh, that time. We were having a meeting at Krua Thai, which was closed so no food or coffee, and there were no other coffee shops nearby.

@Cecile Maris — Hello! Thanks for dropping by my blog. The way the staff served at Bo’s Katipunan was markedly way better than how they do it here in Davao’s 2nd branch. At the 1st, the one in SM City, it’s OK (as well it should be, because it’s owned by my relatives, who share my views on customer service).

Nice blog you have there. Clean design and inviting colors. :)

This branch give Bo’s a real bad name. Yeah, the people behind that cash register never fail to give an air of arrogance, which is totally inexplicable for me. And I’m not really quite sure if they were talking about me but while I was walking away after picking up my bag of tea, I could actually hear one of them within an earshot, saying “… parang tinahal lang yan na lapis. may flavor lang.” I was like “Okay, I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and think that wasn’t just for me”. But I gave him the weird look, which I think still didn’t cross through anyway.

And their shakes??? Blah! I could make one quite easily with an even much better taste.

In short, nice place. Bad service.

Hahaha… Whew. Finally. I had that out out of my chest. Hehe.
