Yesterday was a successful first day for the Davao Food Appreciation Tour (DavaoFAT). The bloggers had been planning this for sometime now — although, it’s really no surprise anymore that it’s turning out well. The Davao bloggers group (instigated by The Usual Suspects) have been continuously active for more than a year now.
Davao FAT is Andrew’s brainchild, which he came up with late last year. His plan to hold this tour during Araw ng Dabaw gave me the idea to do the Davao food trips. So this is like a culminating event for the bloggers’ 3-month food tripping in Davao. (But nobody’s stopping us from going on with the food trips even after DavaoFAT.)
There were twelve of us last night, and we kicked off at Lachi’s, which is one of our favorites. Mike and Mel Aviles, our gracious hosts, prepared quite a feast for us — all yummy and belt-busting! And I was delighted because I was finally able to try their fried tofu dish, which is apparently one of their most popular items.
This was a good sign that the Tour’s going to be a huge and memorable hit. (But it also raises the bar for the rest of the DavaoFAT-participating restaurants to try and reach…)
Here are some more photos of the 1st stop of the Tour. Thanks for the photos, Drew!

After the fantastic meal at Lachi’s, the bloggers bunch headed to K1 for some karaoke. We had some laughs about each other’s singing, and even exchanged threats of getting published on YouTube…. Best singer was Winston, and best in direction was Migs.
It wasn’t part of DavaoFAT anymore, but we just had to have our Internet and coffee, so we hied off to Fagioli Coffee Club before calling it a night. Congrats to Ria, who did a great job coordinating the Tour!
