Coffee Beans

“A coffee bean is the seed of the coffee plant (the pit inside the red or purple fruit). The fruits, coffee cherries or coffee berries, most commonly contain two stones with their flat sides together. Coffee beans consist mostly of endosperm that contains 0.8 - 2.5 % caffeine, which is one of the main reasons the plants are cultivated.”

Hops

“One of the four principal ingredients of beer, hops are flower cones added to beer as a bittering agent, a preservative, and an aromatic.”

There’s a new club in town! The Beans and Hops — or B&H — Club. It’s in the new mini-arcade on Jacinto Extension, almost near the intersection where Bo’s Coffee Club is. I went there with some friends late last night. We were a bit disappointed that there was nobody else there but us — the owner said there were people around earlier though. Last Wednesday I dropped in and it was in fact full to the brim with partying young people. B&H opened only less than two weeks ago.

The place is cozy and cobalt blue (check out the photos below). I like the layout: cushioned seats set against the wall and a ledge for drinks and whatnot on the opposite side. In the middle, a big-enough dance floor for about 10 to 12… unless a couple decides to do the swing!

One plus factor: their Kurant-Tonic mix is absolutely my kind of drink!

In the daytime, according to the owner, the B&H is transformed into a coffee shop. I suppose I have to go back there and sample their brews…

What I don’t like about it is where it’s located. The arcade. It’s… Well, there’s a huge, bright convenience store right at the entrance of the arcade. Couldn’t they have built the store at the back where it’s not such an eyesore? I mean, B&H and the other bar across from it look like cool hangouts. But the convenience store just ruins the whole effect.
