Davao — cornucopia of fruits
Durian, mangosteen, marang, lanzones, rambutan, pineapple, watermelon, pomelo, papaya, atis, and more durian!
The streets of Davao are awash with a variety of tropical fruits in season. Just walk around and you won’t miss it! From August to October each year, Dabawenyos are blessed with an abundance of fruits, you wouldn’t believe it! Just stroll around the city and you’re sure to bump into a sidewalk vendor or an open-air fruit stand.
Come to Davao and experience paradise!

I heard sweet mangosteen sells for only P20 a kilo in Davao. I feel like going home, now na. I terribly miss Davao.

Hi Blogie - One person that I know has a farm in Kidapawan. The Rambutan are so abundant this year that they are giving them away free! No other choice, they will spoil otherwise!

@Sonny — That is insane! Btw, did the mangosteen come from the Philippines?

i know.. criminal, right? but nope, not from pinas. they were from puerto rico. in chinatown here, you can buy the (previously) frozen ones from thailand for ~$10/lb, but they’re a joke. tiny, bitter and just plain nasty. maayo na lang the durian ($1.20/lb) is really good. helps ease the homesickness a bit.

and nope, the durian’s not from pinas, either. thailand pa rin. i really wish we can export more fruits than just bananas and pineapples.

Yeah, it would be great if we could start exporting more from here — it sure would help the economy!
Btw, thanks for reading my blog, Sonny!
