There used to be a post here about a website that offered deals in airfare and similar stuff. And then after about a month, I got an email from their vice-president for marketing asking me to remove the post and all links to their site. The VP said that it wasn’t anything to do with my blog, but stopped at that. No reason whatsoever.
This was originally a sponsored post, an assignment I got from ReviewMe.com. I told the VP that I had to ask ReviewMe first. What was strange was, this person was so insistent. Good thing ReviewMe replied soon enough and informed me that it was OK to remove the post (with no refund of payments).
So that’s why this post has been changed. Truth is, I didn’t want to completely delete it because it would ruin my post count, making my 100th post invalid!
If you travel by air a lot — and especially if you’re always on the lookout for the most inexpensive airline fares —
cheapoair is the most recommended Web portal for you.
While other similar online services feature the usual flights search engine, cheapoair’s powerful “Search cheapest flights” engine provides a complete interface for booking your trips. After specifying your airports of origin and destination, you can input other pieces of information that will help you find the perfect flight details. You can even specify multiple hops with different flight dates. And since it doubles as a booking facility, you can also indicate how many companions (adult or children) you will have with you on your flight.
I tried the system and searched for flights from Dallax, Texas (DAL) to Davao, Philippines (DVO). The system returned a selection of itineraries with the cheapest rate being US$1,548. The beauty of it was, I was given detailed information regarding each itinerary. For example, cheapoair reported that I would fly via Continental from Dallas to Houston (1hr07min) and then from Houston to San Francisco (4hr15min); then from San Francisco to Manila, I’d be flying Philippine Airlines (16hr14min); finally, Manila to Davao (2hr30min) via the same airline. It even gave me the total trip time, which was 24 hours and 32 minutes.
(Impressed as I am with this service, I would just like to note that travel time from Manila to Davao in the Philippines doesn’t take 2 and a half hours. It’s one hour less via any available airline.)
Travelers will appreciate the extra information that come with the flight booking service. For instance, flight numbers come with the type of aircraft (complete with total seating capacity) used. There are even notices of approximate waiting times in case of connecting flights. It is apparent that the cheapoair service was designed by practicing travel professionals.
What’s more, cheapoair isn’t just all about airlines (the service for which is already impressive). They also offer a car rental booking service from many airports around the world. Plus, hotel accommodation! It’s really a total service center for travelers, seasoned or otherwise.
