Good news to coffee lovers who frequently find themselves in the area of Claveria: another café has opened in Davao City, near Aldevinco. It’s called Coffee SPOT, and it’s located in the newly-built EC Business Center on C.M. Recto St., just before Imperial Hotel and The Marco Polo.
Coffee SPOT features a mint-flavored brew called Garden Mint Moccha (P65 for the short), which I found quite pleasing. It has an espresso base, flavored with mint and frothed in thick cream.
The place is small but cozy, with lots of wood and dotted with plants, which makes for a feel-at-home ambience. The al fresco smoking area is surprisingly cool (I went there on a hot afternoon) — this is probably thanks to the high ceiling. There is a loft, where there are comfortable couches. Perfect for lounging around with a few friends, or for holding intimate business meetings.
The café has good vibes. I think the owners have the right touch, judging by the attention to detail given to the furnishing and décor. Hopefully, though, they’ll decide to open Sundays as well. Shop hours are from 10AM to 10PM, but the staff said they’ll extend up to midnight by September. Free wifi, of course.
EC Business Center is an arcade of dress shops, boutiques, a laundry service, an Internet café, and a few food outlets like the Coffee SPOT.
